The newly-established city has a total land area of 48,645 ha and a population of 195,800.
Cẩm Phả city will act as an urban center in the North East of Quảng Ninh province, specializing in coal industry, seaport, thermo-electricity, cement, trade, service and tourism.
In addition to that, the city will play an important role in national defense and serve as a significant hub for transport and exchanges between Quảng Ninh and northern coastal provinces.
Industry and construction will make up 73.5% of the city’s economic structure while trade and service, 25.1% and agro-forestry and fishery 1.4%.
So far, Quảng Ninh province has four cities including Hạ Long, Móng Cái, Uông Bí and Cẩm Phả./.
